88 Tactical Founder and CEO Shea Degan was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. He attended Creighton Prep High School and went on to study Criminal Justice at the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Shea served in the United States Coast Guard Reserves from 1987 to 1991. Following his college education, Shea began a career in law enforcement as a Deputy Sheriff with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office where he worked as road patrol deputy, and as a K9 handler in the Narcotics Criminal Interdiction Unit. His law enforcement career spans nineteen years to present day, and helped launch him into a successful business career.
Shea Degan and his wife founded law-enforcement based Signal 88 Security in Omaha in 2003. Combining his criminal justice education and years of law enforcement, he recognized the need for changes in that industry. His creation was in response to increasing security demands of Omaha area businesses. Under his innovative leadership, Degan built Signal 88 into a cutting-edge security company that encompassed over 140 franchise locations around the country, and employed more than 3000 people.
In 2013 Shea began to shift his focus entirely on the 88 Tactical project. Realizing the tremendous potential of 88 Tactical, he sold his other companies. It was a difficult decision at the time, but Shea saw the opportunity to change the training industry standard, and was eager for the challenge.
In addition to his many duties as the CEO, Shea also continues to build on his twenty-years of training and instruction in Mixed Martial Arts, and he holds a position on his local Police Department. Shea also holds instructor certifications in S.P.E.A.R., Vehicle CQB, and High Threat CQB. The Degan family lives on a farm outside of Omaha, and when he is not working or training, Shea enjoys relaxing on the property with his wife and two children.
